Project: The Refined Residence

The Brief

The client sought to transform a grand, light-filled home into a sanctuary of "Rustic Minimalism." The goal was to bridge the gap between historic architectural details—like ornate cornices and antique French furniture—and a modern, clean lifestyle. They required a flooring solution that was durable enough for a busy family but soft enough in tone to disappear into the room's neutral palette.

The Solution: Driftwood Sisal (Wall-to-Wall)

We selected Driftwood Sisal for its unique "chameleon" properties. Unlike flatter beiges, Driftwood contains multi-tonal fibres that pick up both the warm wood of the antiques and the cool, chalky whites of the plastered walls.

The Design Impact

"By choosing a single flooring material for every room, we created an unbreakable visual flow. Driftwood Sisal doesn't just sit on the floor; it provides the organic soul that makes a white room feel like a home."

Why it Works:

  • Visual Expansion: Extending the sisal wall-to-wall (rather than using rugs) makes the floor plan feel 20% larger.

  • Texture Over Pattern: We relied on the "Tiger-eye" weave of the sisal to provide interest, allowing the client to keep the walls and fabrics simple.

  • Sustainability: Being 100% biodegradable and sustainably sourced, the flooring aligned with the client’s "natural-first" ethos.
