Pyramid sisal at Mylor Farm: natural texture in a celebrated country home
Some interiors invite you to slow down and look a little closer. Mylor Farm is one of them.
Included in Homes to Love’s selection of 28 of Australia’s most beautiful country homesteads, this Adelaide Hills home brings together expressive colour, layered furnishings and a beautiful connection to its surroundings.
We’re proud to have installed Pyramid sisal here—a warm, textured foundation for rooms full of personality.
Colour with a natural foundation
The living spaces combine sunny yellow walls with cream upholstery, timber furniture and green accents. Beneath them, the sisal introduces a quieter pattern: the subtle rhythm of its weave.
A richly patterned rug layered over the flooring adds another dimension. The sisal remains visible around it, connecting the furniture and giving the room a warm, cohesive base.
It’s an inspiring combination for anyone who loves colour. Natural flooring can sit beautifully alongside bold walls, artwork and treasured pieces.
Bedrooms with their own character
The bedrooms show how one flooring choice can complement different moods.
In the pear-wallpaper bedroom, orange cushions and an olive-green bedcover echo the warmth and botanical character of the walls. The sisal adds another texture alongside the fabric, white bed frame and dark bedside table.
The four-poster bedroom takes a gentler approach. Warm timber, pale bedding and soft curtains create an inviting setting, with the flooring continuing that natural palette.
The interiors were reimagined by Emma Read and Sarah Hall of Read & Hall, with bedroom wallpapers reflecting the property’s garden and orchard, as described in the Homes to Love feature on Mylor Farm.
A closer look at Pyramid sisal
Pyramid sisal’s tight weave and subtle textural stripes give the floor interest of its own. In these rooms, its warm tone works alongside timber, woven furniture and layered textiles.
Look closely at the photographs and you’ll see how much the flooring contributes. It provides a consistent foundation while allowing each room’s colours and furnishings to shine.
For your own home, consider the whole palette: your wall colours, timber tones, upholstery and favourite pieces. Flooring is a substantial part of that composition, and texture deserves as much attention as colour.
